Art Camp - FAQ's - PDF File

What is the curriculum?
Students ages 5-12, explore various art techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture, paper mache, and much more.

Can I walk in to register day of class?
If a session is not full, we will take “walk-ups” on a first come first serve basis.  However, we suggest early registration as many sessions and camps are sold out.

What are my payment options and where can I register?
You may register online with a credit card at www.beauxartsmiami.org under art camp.

Are there any discounts?
There is a 10% discount for Museum Members or more than one sibling attending the same session.

When do I get my confirmation for class?
You will receive an e-mail confirmation as soon as you complete the online registration form and process full payment.

Refunds?
There will be a $25 cancellation fee 7 days prior to the first class and no refunds after such date.

We do not give a refund for no-shows or children who miss class for any reason.

Are there make-up classes?
We do not have make-up classes, partial enrollment discounts or scholarships.

Will my child be repeating projects if he/she is registered for more than one session?
We have children that attend several sessions during the summer.  The curriculum for each session is different so a student will not repeat the same project.

What does my child do all day?
Children get started on a project first thing when they arrive (9:30am).  They take a break for a snack (provided by Beaux Arts); have a short recess just outside the art room, fully supervised, lunch, and work on a second project in the early afternoon, break for the day at 2pm.

What is the age breakdown?
Our camp is offered to 5-12 year olds, in the Pavilion, children are separated by age, but they are in the same room. Every session differs with the breakdown of ages.  5-7 year olds are grouped together and 8-12 year olds are grouped together.  There are two art instructors (Jennifer Giroux is the head) and art assistants.  The ratio of art instructors/assistants to children is 1 to 6.  Both art instructors are teachers; volunteers may be past students of the camp, high school or college art students.

Where are the bathrooms?
Bathroom facilities are inside the Pavilion.

Snack and Lunch questions?

  • During camp we offer a snack and drink.  Campers need to bring their own sack lunch.
  • There is no early or after care offered.

What are the teacher’s qualifications?

Our head teacher, Jennifer Giroux, has her masters in art education from UM.  We hire several aides to keep the teacher, aide/student at an excellent ratio.
